Domain Live - Prairie City

Currently, this page is being served temporarily from David's home computer lab. While it serves as a successful proof-of-concept to show that our new .gov domain is active and working, it is only a temporary staging area. Establishing a dedicated LAN at City Hall is the next critical step to "serving" our own Portal and securing our digital future.

The Portal: A Need for a Physical Home

This Digital Portal is envisioned as the central hub for all things Prairie City. It will serve two vital roles:

External: A public internet gateway for citizens to find council minutes, city ordinances, community updates and other public information. It will also be the portal to access live/recorded council meetings, file formal complaints, see their water usage, make suggestions. It can provide whatever the citizens of Prairie City want. It is their portal
Internal: Secured access for city staff for internal resources via a web browser interface and ONLY when accessing from within the city's network

However, to be fully functional and secure, this Portal needs a permanent physical home: A Local Area Network (LAN) and a dedicated server box at City Hall.

This same physcial home is needed to also act as an email server enabling the new city emails addresses (e.g. mayor@prairiecityor.gov)
